Marlow’s first Big Swim and Triathlon

| |

On Saturday I was in the park to spectate at the Marlow Big Swim, being held for the first time. The race started and finished at the bottom end of Higginson Park, and it was quite a unique spectacle to see 100 or so competitors, mostly in wetsuits, setting off against the classic backdrop of Marlow Bridge.

The winner finished in under 20 minutes, impressive stuff – and some way ahead of the pack.

On Sunday the first ever Marlow Sprint Triathlon was held (which I competed in!) , and it’s good to see even more sporting events being added to the regular Half Marathon, Duathlon, and Rowers Revenge events detailed in our leisure section.

Both these events gave an opportunity to swim in the stretch of river we all know so well, under the safest possible conditions – give one a go next year!
