The Olympic Torch at Bisham – 10 July

| |

Today the Olympic torch came nearest to Marlow – at Bisham Abbey (having travelled from Henley where Marlow’s own  Sir Steve Redgrave carried the torch in a rowing boat!)

Our roving reporter Alex Iszatt was there to take the superb photos below (except where stated otherwise)

The first torchbearer at Bisham was Bailey Reese from Florida, who started HeroHugs.org which is now a nationally recognized organization that has sent over 68,000 packages to deployed troops.

Then came local Sam Shepherd , 22,  of Cookham who has done much to raise money for charity through sporting endeavours – including football tournaments in aid of  Habitat for Humanity which builds much needed housing in South Africa.

Incidentally, the lanterns shown are a couple of those lit from the source flame in Greece,  and  keep the flame alive at night etc. More details on the BBC website
