Back to the 80’s – the totally awesome musical!!

MAOS (Marlow Amateur Operatic Society) will be performing their Spring show of ‘Back to the 80’s‘ on 12th-15th March at the Shelley Theatre in Marlow.

“Back to the 80s” combines classic pop songs (Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Billy Ocean and more) with a feel-good story and high-energy dance routines. With tickets from £12, it’s a fun night out for all the family.

“For years, the 80’s were a guilty pleasure,” says Phil Couch, who has directed and costumed the show, “but shows like this let us have fun looking back. The show is packed with references to 80’s pop culture, like the films, pop stars and toys. It’s a bit like how Grease looked at the 1950’s.”

Fizzing dance routines are a highlight of all MAOS shows. “Back to the 80’s is no different,” says choreographer Sam Cleaver, who also plays Mel (or is it Kim?) “We’ve used plenty of moves from the period, and I’ve loved how all the cast threw themselves into the routines, even the guys who said they weren’t dancers when we started rehearsals.”

“Back to the 80’s” runs from Wednesday 12th March to Saturday 15th March, starting at 7.30pm. Whether or not you were there the first time, you’ll have “the time of your life”!

Tickets are available at the Marlow TIC, via email maosmarlow@gmail.com or you can call Lucy 07899 867757. Concession and group discounts are available.

We hope to see you all there supporting Marlow’s very own musical theatre society.
