Sindhu – lunch review (it’s great then too)

| |

We’ve visited Sindhu a few times, and each time it’s been in the evening. We’ve enjoyed both the standard menu and the stunning multi-course tasting menu.  (We are also tempted by their New Year’s Eve offering too – a bespoke set menu starting off with champagne and canapes, and finishing with fireworks!)

However, we recently popped in for lunch, and had a really fantastic meal!

As a reminder, “Sindhu by Atul Kochhar” to give its full name is located in the Compleat Angler, and Atul is the Michelin starred chef, often seen on TV, who is behind it. The setting is gorgeous, and we were blessed with a clear day to enjoy the view from the window next to our table – overlooking Marlow weir.

We really would recommend visiting for lunch sometime – it would be ideal for a business lunch, if out shopping, or just meeting up with friends.  The spiciness is not overdone – it’s much more about the wonderful variety of flavours in Atul’s style of cooking, which is a very much a contemporary take on traditional Indian cuisine. The  tasting menu might be considered a bit of a treat at lunchtime, but we had the excellent value 3 course lunch menuat £21.50, or £25  with a glass of house wine. This really is fantastic value for cuisine of this standard.

Our images below tell the story of our meal, and having just looked at them again, I might well be back there tomorrow 🙂

Interior of Sindhu – we got there early to take a pic of it empty 🙂

The only problem with such a view… arguments with your dining partner over who gets to sit where to enjoy it 🙂

Grilled corn fed chicken supreme with coriander and lime leaf – its amazing how much flavour can be infused into pieces of chicken!

Boneless lamb simmered with onion and spices, with sides that included aubergine, lentils and a naan. These side dishes contributed their own delicious flavours to the lovely tender lamb.

This is the result of ME tipping items on to the plate – not Sindhu’s presentation! Just to give an idea of the size and quantity of that lamb. 🙂

Coconut parfait, with jaggery and cardamom, and cashew brittle. Looks impressive eh? Tastes it too.
