Marlow’s Higginson Park will be hosting an Olympic and Paralympic celebration this Sunday 2nd October.
Marlow FM will introduce and interview local athletes by Court Garden House at about 2pm before residents will be given their chance to pose for photos and congratulate our Olympic and Paralympic heroes.
Fresh from adding silver to her collection in Rio, five-time Olympic medallist and Marlow Rowing Club member Katherine Grainger will be there.
Marlow resident Alex Danson can also expect a hero’s welcome after she scored five goals to propel Team GB’s hockey team to a historic gold in Brazil.
Talented teenage shooter Amber Hill, who narrowly missed out on a medal after reaching the semi-finals of the skeet, is also confirmed – as is London 2012 Paralympic champion Naomi Riches following the Marlow resident’s successful world record row of the River Thames last week.
Further athletes are expected to be added to the line up later this week –we will keep you posted!

Our event on Sunday 2 October is about celebrating the achievement and success, and saluting our athletes, as well as all the people who have played a part in their sports careers and who will continue to play a part in supporting the Olympians and Paralympians of the future.”
