Proposal for 3 recycling centres in town to close – HAVE YOUR SAY!

| |

Wycombe District Council, as part of the “Joint Waste team”,  are putting forward proposals to make changes to the recycling facilities currently available in the town. See the message from them to Marlow Town Council below, if you wish to respond (to recyclingconsultation@chiltern.gov.uk) the deadline for responses is July 14th.

The Joint Waste Team has undertaken a review of all local recycling centres across the Wycombe and Chiltern districts. We are under contractual obligation to consider reducing the number of facilities in existence, following the introduction of the enhanced recycling collection service for residents. Amongst the considerations, we looked at how well used each site was and the volume of material generated. We also tried to identify if the facility was being used for the disposal of trade waste and took into account reports of fly-tipping.

We have worked in collaboration with our Cabinet Members and our contractor Serco and now take this opportunity to inform you of the proposal for

  • Wiltshire Road South Recycling Centre
  • Court Garden Recycling Centre – Pound Lane
  • Liston Road Car Park Recycling Centre.

It is our intention to close these facilities. We would, therefore, invite your comments for consideration. Proposed closures will take place during the months of August and September.

We have found that for most remaining recycling centres, facilities are either misused for trade waste disposal, are victim to repeated fly-tipping activity, or have simply become redundant.

As you know we now collect a wide range of materials at the kerbside, meaning the popularity and dependency on these facilities has diminished considerably.

It is our intention to retain a number of facilities as outlets for residents around the district. These include –

Chorley Road, West Wycombe
Morrisons, High Wycombe
Asda, Cressex
Doctors Surgery, Queensmead Road, Loudwater
Beaumont Way, Hazlemere
Riley Road, Marlow
Stratton Road, Princes Risborough
Please note that the above sites may be subject to further review at a later date and could be subject to further consultation and closure.
Please be aware, these proposals relate only to local recycling centres, which the District Councils are responsible for. Household recycling centres, operated by Bucks County Council, have not been reviewed.

We would be interested to hear from you on these proposals and invite you to email the team at recyclingconsultation@chiltern.gov.uk

The closing date for response is Friday 14th July 2017.
