A cleaner river, thanks to Marlow Canoe Club!

| |

Well done to Marlow Canoe Club who spent hours yesterday collecting rubbish out of the river locally. Not much fun on a cold morning fishing other people’s stuff out of an even colder river we’d imagine!!

The Marlow Canoe Club river clean was part of the national campaign run by Surfers Against Sewage.

Justine Fontan from the club told us “All our members were surprised by the amount of rubbish that was collected on the day as we had previously thought that our stretch of river was relatively clean. We found tiny bits of plastic packaging and even some larger children’s toys. We hope to encourage all our members to recycle and reduce their plastic waste as well as raising awareness of plastic pollution in our waterways with members of the public.”

Marlow Canoe Club is involved in all forms of paddle sport, and paddlers of all abilities are welcome. You can find out more about the club at http://marlowcc.org.uk
