Marlow Bridge was closed AGAIN due to discovery of ammunition

| |

Marlow Bridge was closed to cars and pedestrians from 10pm for a couple of hours last night after yet another discovery of live ammunition, yet again pulled out of the river by someone engaged in “magnet fishing”…

Back in April we had exactly the same thing happen, as we reported including photos of the bomb disposal team in action, and there have been a couple of other incidents since.

Marlow resident Dave Clarke provided the above photos, and had no choice but to be onsite and watch events unfold – his car was parked close by and he was unable to access it!

Dave told us that the bridge was closed around 10pm, whilst police waited for the specialist disposal team to arrive.  Their assessment was that the ammunition was still live, and was a rifle grenade.  The ammunition was then moved away for a controlled detonation, and by 11.30pm the bridge was reopened.
