Exciting news that Marlow is getting a brand new restaurant & bar, headed up by someone with an excellent local track record for amazing food!
Back in February 2018 we first reported that the Chesca clothing shop (between Liston Court and the High Street) would close, but a planning application had been made to convert the shop into a restaurant. Planning was approved, but now things are really starting to move along – in fact it should be open in around a month’s time!
Beccafico will be run by Alessandra Cesaroni, part of the team behind Satollo – so that’s some great news to start with. The venue will seat around 35 inside and 25 outside, serving quality regional dishes from all over Italy… but with a twist!
MyMarlow spoke exclusively to Alessandra who confirmed “We are so excited to be bringing a new Italian food concept to Marlow – it really will be something different! Beccafico will be both innovative and traditional with high quality ingredients and authentic flavours.”
“Rather than just a ‘restaurant’ we will be closer to a Cicchetteria, a typical northern Italian place that serves smaller food portions. Traditionally, cicchetti are served as finger food but our concept is to have properly cooked dishes, but in a smaller version“.
Alessandra added “We will be a buzzing bar too, serving classic and original cocktails, we will have a fruit bar for freshly pressed orange juices and fruit/vegetable juices. Obviously we will still be serving our Napolitan coffee, Passalacqua – just like we do in Satollo.”
MyMarlow’s view…
At MyMarlow, we think this sounds a really attractive proposition! An Italian spin on the sociable sharing aspect of tapas, or “small plates” as also adopted by Tom Kerridge’s The Coach. Combined with the bar, and outdoor seating it has all the makings of being a fantastic place to drop in for a relaxing drink and quality food.
