Two presenters from Marlow FM have been nominated for the “Community Radio Awards 2019” – Gemma-Leigh James is up for the Female Presenter award, and Sam Sethi for the Newcomer award.
Gemma-Leigh James
Gemma presents Thursday Breakfast with her partner in real life, Brian Naylor, and the 90s edition of the Afternoon Gold ‘decades’ show. She has taken part in all of the station’s big outside broadcasts, including Pub in the Park, the Marlow Town Regatta, and the Marlow Carnival. She also took part in Cookham Dean’s Gravity Grand Prix – joining one of the competitors as a co-pilot, and reporting live as she sped round corners and chicanes at speeds of up to 30mph! Gemma has scored some big interview successes for the station – including Russell Brand, Tim Brooke-Taylor, 60s legend Donovan and local celebrity chef Atul Kochhar.
Sam Sethi
Sam joined Marlow FM in September 2018. In a short space of time, he has made a big impression in front of the microphone, with a weekly technology show – featuring several big name guests on the show, including the HR director of the BBC, the chief scientist for IBM Watson, and the heads of corporate communications for both Amazon and Microsoft. Sam is also part of the operations team, with specific contributions including building a new website for the station and arranging fundraising events.

Graham Duthie, Managing Director of the radio station, said: “Marlow FM is a community station, and we have loads of volunteers like Gemma and Sam who generously give their time to make the station what it is. Getting this kind of recognition makes it worthwhile.”
The awards ceremony, now in its fourth year, will see awards given in 18 categories. It will take place on 26 October at the Memo Arts Centre in Barry, South Wales.
Thank you for a lovely write up Paul. 🙂
