Halifax in Marlow have announced that the branch will be closing on 4th May 2020
They said “Our customers’ needs are changing. Nearly 16 million people now bank with us through Online Banking and over 10 million use Mobile Banking. Branches will remain vital in meeting customers’ needs but we must continually review our network to make sure we have branches in locations where customers need and use them the most. As a result, we’ve made the difficult decision to close this branch because customers are using it less often. In addition the majority of customers are also using alternative ways to bank.”
Halifax also stated that “when we close a branch, we complete a detailed impact analysis…” and the image below summarises this, noting how the branch is used less than a “typical” one – and that usage has declined 31% in just the past year.
Bonus detail – history of the building
Back in the 1970s/early 80s, the building was “Dino’s” restaurant – as we mentioned in our previous Marlow Memories article
I will no longer use the Halifax
Lovely old photos of Dino and Mary, also recognise Juan at the sweet trolley!
My husband David altered the restaurant for Dino, and while working in the cellar one of his lads found another room, it was the manager’s office in Nat West Bank, next door!!
