Meals from Marlow – feeding the frontline workers and more

| |

Chef Tom Kerridge, the Pub in the Park festival team and local entrepreneurs Chris Hughes and Andy Agar have come together with some amazing Marlow folk to deliver free meals to those in need in and around the Marlow area during the Coronavirus crisis – and we can all help the fundraising effort! (quick link to fundraising: www.gofundme.com/meals-from-marlow.)

This voluntary, not for profit initiative launched yesterday Thursday 2nd April with the first 500 meals distributed to local healthcare workers, other frontline workers and vulnerable people in the community. The first organisations to have benefited from this scheme are:

  • Staff of High Wycombe Hospital
  • Staff of Wexham Park Hospital
  • Locals in need of support in and around Marlow

The initiative was launched thanks to generous donations totaling over £25,000 from Pub in the Park, Origin Doors & Windows, Una Loughrey & Peter Griffin and Softcat Staff, with funding already in place to produce the first 6,800 meals.

The need for funding…. can you help?

Meals from Marlow is seeking to raise £14,000 a week to be able to supply 500 meals a day for as long as the Coronavirus crisis continues. A meal costs just £4 to produce. Donations can be made via the dedicated GoFundMe page at www.gofundme.com/meals-from-marlow.

Businesses interested in sponsoring or partnering with the initiative can contact Andy Agar on 07770 381195 or email apagar@icloud.com.

Great Community Support so far

Meals for Marlow has also received huge support from Platts of Marlow, All Saints Marlow and The Link Foundation in the efforts to provide meals for those in need. Marlow Town Council are also working with the team to ensure the scheme meets the need of the local community and to ensure every penny goes towards making a difference.

Tom Kerridge has donated his production kitchen and is supervising food production and hygiene. Professional chefs are donating their time and effort to produce the meals daily. The management of the scheme is being supervised by the Pub in the Park team and Andy Agar.

Cllr Richard Scott, Marlow Mayor, says “The Town Council, its councillors and officers are delighted to be involved in Meals from Marlow.  This is a great initiative for front line workers, vulnerable residents and others in need in Marlow and surrounding towns.  On behalf of all residents, thank you to everyone who is selflessly delivering meals to those who most need them.”

Tom Kerridge says “We want to do our bit to help as many people as possible and the response so far has been fantastic. We are reaching out from and within Marlow to those most in need. Please help us by donating.”
