Marlow Santas Fun Run – DATE CHANGE

| |

In the light of the most recent Government announcements the Rotary Clubs of Marlow, who organise the Marlow Santa’s Fun Run, have announced a change to the dates of the 2020 “Virtually Real” event. The dates move from December 5th & 6th to DECEMBER 19th & 20th (OR LATER IN DECEMBER IF ENTRANTS PREFER).

In these extraordinary times this change should allow entrants the flexibility to run, walk (or even cycle) as families, in small groups, or in well separated teams. Dogs always welcome and free! Entrants can create a real festive spirit in their Santa outfits, and of course help a range of charities in the process.  The changes should enable participation safely and with confidence – complying with the regulations however they may apply in late December.

The organisers are also making changes to the distribution process for entry packs. Collection from retail depots is no longer feasible, so ALL entrant packs (Santa Suits and paperwork) will now be delivered to home or business addresses. As a result the organisers will now waive the £5 delivery charge – and ALL DELIVERIES WILL NOW BE FREE OF CHARGE. The organisers plan to use a team of volunteers or courier companies where needed.

The website and entry process have now been updated – and all those who have already entered will be emailed regarding the changes.

John Prout – Chair of the Marlow Santas Fun Run organising committee – says: “Even though the new “lock down” is due to end on December 2nd we are now left with no choice but to move the dates and change the distribution process. Behind the scenes a lot of work is involved in preparing the packs for runners and teams, and the logistics no longer work. We have therefore decided to remove the option of collection from our retail depots and to offer new dates that maximise flexibility for entrants over a busy holiday period”.

John added “We do hope that people understand the reasons for these changes – and that more than ever the event provides a genuinely bright spot in these troubled times. The event is a fantastic charity fundraise – and charities need our support now more than ever before.”

Marlow Thames Rotary Club President Nicole Hockly said “The Rotary Clubs of Marlow have been running this event for 16 years now – and have raised over £100,000 for local charities in the last 3 years alone. We don’t want 2020 to spoil our run!!!
