GALLERY: Switch On 2021 with Chris Evans

Switch On 2020 could not take place in the usual way, but instead we were treated to Chris Evans secretly being filmed turning on the Christmas lights in the middle of the night. This year, Chris was back in person and on the top of the open top bus!

A crowd filled the High Street from top to bottom, and Marlow FM were set up next to the bus to help build up anticipation. At 6.30pm Marlow FM’s Tim Ashburner introduced Mayor Richard Scott and Chris Evans. Chris spoke of his love for his home town -“Do we live in the best place in the world? I think we do!” He then mentioned Sergeant Robin Hughes, soon to retire after 21 years serving the police in Marlow, and led 3 cheers in his honour. Chris introduced Rev Dave Bull of All Saints Church who said a prayer and gave a blessing, and then having mentioned the upcoming Late Night Shopping event, Chris got his family and the crowd to help in a countdown from 100, before plunging the plunger!!

A video of the final part of the countdown is on our Youtube Channel:

Thanks Chris for another superb Switch On – and well done to Marlow Town Council and everyone involved, with special thanks to the various businesses whose sponsorship of the lights makes it all possible!
