Talk: Lost in the Woods – Medieval Farms in the Chilterns

‘Lost in the Woods – Medieval Farms in the Chilterns’ A talk by Andy Ford, Organised by Archaeology in Marlow (AIM)

Hidden away in many of the woods of the Chiltern hills are the remains of isolated medieval farms. By reviewing historical evidence and recent archaeological investigations, Andy will try to answer some questions about these mysterious buildings - why were they constructed? Why are they in such isolated places? When were they built and by whom? And why did they fall into disuse and disappear?

Marlow pre-schoolers make donation to Age Concern

On Friday 3rd October children from First Steps First Nursery Preschool and their teachers are planning to walk to the Marlow Age Concern Centre in Glade Road to donate their Harvest boxes.

The children have been learning about the Seasons and want to celebrate Harvest time by sharing their food with the elderly. Mayor of Marlow, Suzanne Brown who is also the manager of Age Concern's Marlow Day Centre has been very welcoming and supportive

"It is fantastic to be able to give these young children the opportunity to help their community,"  says Susan Campbell-Baker, owner of First Steps First. "They have all been working hard learning their Harvest song which they will perform at the centre for the elderly people on the day. It is important to get to know our neighbours in Marlow."

First Steps First moved to its new location in Mill Road in June 2013 and provides preschool education for children aged 2½ - 5 years.
